Bunye Betfu Buhle Butfu Savings and Credit Co-operative was formed in 1990 and registered by the Commissioner of Co-operative under the Ministry of Agriculture and Co-operative, in accordance with the co-operative Act of 1964.
The SACCO is now licensed by the Financial Service Regulatory Authority. The SACCO was formed with the sole purpose of uplifting the standard of living for its members.
The SACCO draws its membership from employees within the public sector in Swaziland. Currently we have five thousand seven hundred and eighty four members. This is about fourteen percent of the total population of employed civil servants.
The SACCO has the potential to continue growing its market share by targeting all the ministries. However, competition for members is quite high given that most ministries prefer having their own in-house SACCOS. Bunye Betfu must therefore position itself strategically to be able to capture a sizeable portion of the market.
The SACCO's management must refine strategies that will retain and increase membership as the foundation to build a strong organization. The success of the SACCO depends on growing the membership.
